Seductive artwork by Phresha 03/14/2011
I’m always delighted when I receive emails from artists who want to introduce me to their work. But Phresha’s vibrant paintings are a true eye candy I had to share. Fresh, bold, seductive, her female characters seem to draw you in with their dark – sometimes surreal charm. Add Comment Kinetic Sculptures by Andrew Smith 02/16/2011
"Portal" I was thrilled when I received an email from Andrew Smith introducing me to his mind blowing artwork! Old and abandoned items such as gears, wires, springs, junk yard scraps and all sort of mechanical parts & equipment are ritually collected by the artist and used to assemble imaginative and captivating kinetic sculptures. Art and Trash 10/29/2010
Extraordinary and creative artwork by Tom Deininger who creates sculptures assembled out of trash. The artist has produced fine art installations by recycling found objects and giving them new life. His work is collected by high profile collectors worldwide. Point of View 10/09/2010
Contemporary mixed media artist and sculptor Gilles Barbier creates installations that are destined to make us skip a heartbeat. Surreal, bold and provocative, his human formed characters are found in situations that may seem exaggerated but, from my point of view, are meant to trigger our awakening and realization of our, some times, ill natured human behavior. I also found this video where a curator talks about one of Barbier’s sculptures entitled: “In the soup, a cheddar fondue and three nightmares, speech bubbles (tenant & owner), isolated segments (the infinite assassin) and bananas.” Be Happy Now 10/01/2010
What I enjoy in Jenny Meilihove’s artwork is that it is like poetry! Whimsical, refreshing, dreamy, surreal … The illustrator currently lives and creates in Israel and she notes: “I want my artworks to bring happiness to everyone. I want people to forget about all the troubles they have, and emotionally participate in pleasant situations I capture in my works. I think that in order to be happy, we don’t need much. The tiny uplifting things that each of us can easily find in our daily life can make us very happy, if we think seriously about for just a moment, and without any effort (like giving a big big hug to a tiny cat, or to imagine your dream comes true)… We just need to remember to dream, when we still do another and important things.” Don’t forget to check out her online shop and follow her tweets! ![]() I was completely blown away when Adriean Koleric, a talented artist from Canada introduced me to his work! Amazing visual compositions with a distinct surrealistic touch where past is fused with future leading to the creation of new, fantastic worlds. His intrigue compositions have an exciting color palette that makes the artist’s pieces even more appealing to one’s eye. Make sure to check out his site for a complete overview of his portfolio! Unsettling Visions 08/24/2010
![]() Artist's self portrait Very emotive and expressive art by David Choe an artist who is active in a wide variety of both themes and mediums. I chose to present some of his oil and mixed media artworks because I strongly believe that his work is bound to captivate both your eyes and your mind. Captivating, unsettling, almost cunning visions of the artist’s world of thoughts and inspirations, depicted either in a more abstract and minimal manner or interpreted in bold strokes, rough sketches and busy backgrounds! Enjoy! Reflecting Feelings 08/16/2010
![]() Derek Weisberg’s sculptures overwhelm you with their raw emotional power. The artist notes in his statement: “I create works of art that are emotional and psychological self-portraits. Through my work I aim to make sense of my life, my experiences, and the times I live. I do not wish to represent like a photo, instead to achieve an innerness. My goal is to create images, which are accessible and allow the viewer to have an experience which can not be easily articulated, but felt. Simultaneously igniting contemplation, reflection and a lasting relationship with the work. I attempt to express basic human qualities, which are universal and timeless. At its core the works reflect humanist ideology; searching for truth and universal morality based on the commonality of the human condition.” Check out his site as there are so much more incredible pieces waiting to be discovered. Pink Pop 07/26/2010
Welcome to the pink pop world of Buff Monster! Happy creatures and awesome patterns and textures all combined to create the cutest visuals, paintings, design toys and installations. The artist has been presented in numerous magazines and websites and currently resides and creates in Hollywood. “The color pink, a symbol of confidence, individuality and happiness, is present in everything he creates. Buff Monster’s creative endeavors began by putting up thousands of hand-silkscreened posters across Los Angeles and in far-away places. His frequent poster missions developed into a productive street art career, and he now works on fine art paintings, collectible toys and select design projects. He paints on wood, taking great care to create his images as flat as possible, and his work has been shown in galleries worldwide, often accompanied by large installations.” Discovering Creativity 06/26/2010
![]() The work of Randi Antonsen is magnificent in many ways. I really respect that she experiments with various techniques and evolves her artwork in a variety of mediums. Here I’m only presenting you a small sample of her mixed media pieces, collages and paper sculptures. A part of the artist’s statement: “I have a carefree but fully engaged approach to life and art. I find inspiration in the smallest of things because I “see” with these inquisitive and always looking for magic eyes. My work incorporates many approaches and mediums all in one, but then so does life.” .
