Receiving an email from Magdalena Pankiewicz proved to be a quite refreshing surprise! Mostly inspired by the field of fashion, Magdalena mixes her drawing skills with Photoshop and creates fresh and minimal illustrations. 1 Comment Typographic Portraits by Juan Osborne 04/10/2011
In the case of Juan Osborne’s artwork, the famous saying “A picture is worth a thousand words” is visualized through his illustrations! Seductive artwork by Phresha 03/14/2011
I’m always delighted when I receive emails from artists who want to introduce me to their work. But Phresha’s vibrant paintings are a true eye candy I had to share. Fresh, bold, seductive, her female characters seem to draw you in with their dark – sometimes surreal charm. Surreal Portraits 10/18/2010
I really had trouble in selecting the works I’d like to feature by Ian Macarthur! Everything is so amazing: intricate patterns and shapes that create a fantastic surreal visual wave, expressive faces and inspirational use of different media! Here is a part from the artist’s statement: “My work is described as surreal and unique in its own way. Using mostly pencil, watercolors and pigment pens I create portraits of ordinary people but create them in a unusual way by embellishing patterns and watercolor effects into the portrait to give a vivid explosion effect. Making there faces from something plain to something entirely bizarre and wonderful at the same time”. Can't Buy me Love 10/13/2010
The “Can’t Buy me Love” illustration series by Andra Hilde are so beautiful! I love the color palette, the textures and the way the artist depicts the couple’s expressions and emotions is absolutely inspirational. Check out Andra’s gallery for a visually delicious overview! Color Feast 09/25/2010
Jill Tovey’s artwork is undoubtedly a feast for the eyes! Bursting with energy, bold colors excellently combined with textures, creating visuals that draw you in! The artist has been showcased in numerous media and currently lives and creates in Gloucester, UK. Torture Portraits 09/18/2010
![]() The intense portraits of women created by Brian Viveros are provocative, dark and draw you in with their captivating eroticism. His manic smoking subjects appear like they survived a fierce fight, and are captured posing vaguely, arrogantly with a mysterious and fixating gaze. A very expressive and emotive collection of visuals with a wonderful color palette and urban feel! Make sure to check out the artist’s site for more inspiration! Haunting Future 08/30/2010
![]() When I first discovered Fred Einaudi and viewed his artwork I felt a chill going down my spine. Juxtaposing and unexpected characters are found in surreal environments where the essence of devastation is prominent. Einaudi’s portraits are an inspiring fusion of fears and visions, thus engage an almost futuristic character. Delicate Watercolors 08/28/2010
![]() Simply breathtaking watercolor illustrations by Catherine Parr who is currently living and creating in Los Angeles. I am thrilled by her color combinations and the way the soft lines of pencil show beneath colored areas. Her fashion inspired characters are whimsical and sophisticated. As the artist notes: “For me, inspiration comes from many places. Ealing Studios, French and Italian Cinema, along with music, theatre and dance.” Check out her online shop at etsy for gorgeous prints. Living Art 03/18/2010
![]() Don’t be fooled! These are not canvas paintings, but real people painted by the hand of talented and innovative installation artist Alexa Meade. Balancing between perception and reality she paints on live models, 3d surfaces and various objects and incorporates her creations into various installations that urge the viewer to experience an alternate perspective of her art. .
