The latest collection of Gareth Pugh for Fall 11 is highly influenced by religious iconography and Florentine opulence. The British designer presented his Italian fashion debut in Florence on January 13, 2011 at Pitti Immagine #79, showcasing his opulent designs via a unique fashion film, created with Ruth Hogben.

The video reveals a real feast for eyes and ears ushering the viewers into the mysterious world of the rectangular fold designs and body movement's art interlinked with climactic sounds. The plot resembles a journey of souls straggling with darkenss and lure of seduce with the glorious finale of ethereal and immaculate beings in Paradise.

The year 2010 – year of surprises and departures, year of jubilees and anniversaries, but first of all this is the year closing the first decade of XXI century. We had tragic events, fashion designers facing the crisis, growing number of fashion bloggers with Tavi Gevinson sitting on the fashion first rows. It was the year of anniversaries for – French Vogue, Elle, and Style.com. It was the year of departures – on February “enfant terrible” Alexander McQueen … they say that imagination never dies. After 10 years of cooperation, Carine Roitfeld left the French Vogue. But it also was the year of great return for Tom Ford and his debut as a movie director. It was a year of feminity – plus size models, 50’s fashion influences.

Presented fashion moments are like an open list highlighting the most significant events of this unique year.

Golden Trip

A very specific period is approaching into the winter fashion, the celebration time, Carnival. Following one of the meanings of carnival as the travelling amusement show, I would like to invite you to the journey of the most luminous colour of this season - golden. We won’t be disappointed with the versatility that designers use in their artistry. Gold is present in whole forms, or like embellishments, served as glitters and the background. We will find it in rock ‘n’ roll bohemia with a decadent claw, the same as in soft retro style, or even in designs incredibly resembling the king’s robes, vestments and works of Church icons.

Yes to royalty, opulence, glamour.

Tea Petrovic is an artist and designer whose interest focuses mostly on shoes.

From her early years she was fascinated with the work of Russian sculptor Naum Gabo and Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. Tea took the main inspirations of both artists for her graduate project which resulted in the exhibition of a hand-made shoes collection.

She wanted to achive an expressive, structural and constructed in detail shoe, and the result was the astonishment of viewers. She simply wanted to present her shoes as the object of art.

The birthday of our blog Eye Candies has very special meaning to me.

It is mostly because of the number 7 - which is my lucky eye candy.

I also feel special affection for this number because of the fortunate choices in my life concerning 7.

The date of our blog birthday has also a more global and widespread meaning... Why?? Because on Tuesday 7th December 2010, Lee Alexander McQueen received posthumous Outstanding Achievement Award at the British Fashion Awards 2010 ceremony.

No need to comment about his artistry and contribution to the real concept of global fashion - we are already acquainted with that. Having been the most innovative and influential fashion designer of his generation, he won't let us forget ...

Picture
BFC chairman Harold Tillman, CBE, said: "The Outstanding Achievement Award celebrates the exceptional talent of an individual who has contributed to the British fashion industry both internationally, and here in the UK throughout their career.

There was only one person we felt we could recognise with this award this year - Lee McQueen."

The movie opening the ceremony was the tribute to Alexander McQueen and his most iconic pieces. This art video has a very expressive strong impact to the outstanding designs surrounded by the charismatic voice of Bjork. It is also a token of esteem for McQueen to be paid well – a well deserved tribute.

Speaking about the inspiration for the film, director Nick Knight, commented: "This film is my way of speaking about a very unique and important person who changed my life. My desire was to speak in some way about the dark and the light contained within Lee, and within us all."

Celebrate  the breathtaking imagination and groundbreaking designs of Lee Alexander McQueen. The latest fashion film by Nick Knight pays tribute to McQueen's sensational creations, stellar career, and most importantly to the man himself.
A commemorative tribute film directed by Nick Knight.
Styling by Edward Enninful
Soundtrack by Bjork

Black & White

Magazine: Vogue UK
Editorial: Black & White
Photographer: Nick Knight
Fashion Editor: Charlotte Stockdale
Model: Anja Rubik

Black & White - two oppositions, two antitheses, two contrasting colors ... but when it comes to fashion they can give a vibrant and extravagant performance serving the most exclusive designers ranging from  Dries Van Noten, Dior, Gareth Pugh, Vivienne Westwood to Viktor & Rolf and many more.

The video & editorial are so powerful that you nearly feel the boost of black & white inspirations serving us the crème de la crème of high fashion styles. And that punk-ish, rebel lady taking outrageous poses to the Dust21 music, couldn't be anyone else but the top model Anja Rubik.

She jumps, dances, kicks - plays with monochromatic fashion of constructions, stripes and robs and we have to admit it, she makes it in a very glamorous and edgy way.

Such a project reveals something more - the artistry of fashion designers. Having such a simple and minimal idea consisting these two opposite colors, the result is beyond our imagination. The mixture of styles, variety of designs and creativity, show that there is a blurry line between fashion and art. The line that designers are balancing with skill and grace.

GLAM TRENDS

As we all notice leggings are having their great comeback. Plenty of them are on the runways representing styles and trends ranging from gothic to retro.

They have become versatile replacing trousers, jeans, pants and skirts. I like this versatility of leggings when I have free choice of styling. Why? Because we can match them with all kinds of top garments including suits, cardigans, tunics, dresses tops and many more.

One fashion designer introduced very smart & elegant looks in his Fall/ Winter Collection. He was known for his Midas touch that could turn fashion into wearable art. We will remember him as the sensitive, irreplaceable, innovative artist, the same were his projects. As the leggings lover, let me remind you his gorgeous designs for the ongoing Fall/Winter season.
